The short answer

Bloomsday is confirmed for May 2, 2027, and Hoopfest for June 26-27, 2027. For smaller gatherings, try the library's program calendar and seasonal Friends of Manito classes. Emerson-Garfield Farmers Market is another seasonal option; its posted 2026 season has ended. Use each organizer for current arrangements rather than assuming all activities share one ticket system.

Bloomsday: May 2, 2027

Bloomsday is Spokane's annual running and walking event, scheduled for May 2, 2027. Participants register directly with the organizer to join this community tradition, which brings thousands to the course each spring.

The event is designed for both competitive runners and walkers looking for a community outing. Registration details, including deadlines and participant categories, are managed through the official Bloomsday site rather than through ticketing platforms.

Hoopfest: June 26-27, 2027

Spokane Hoopfest is a two-day outdoor 3-on-3 basketball tournament taking place June 26-27, 2027. Teams register through the organizer to compete on courts set up across downtown streets.

Decide whether your interest is playing or watching, then use the organizer's information for that role. Team categories, registration windows and visitor arrangements belong to the specific edition. The confirmed dates help you plan ahead without borrowing an old tournament schedule.

Emerson-Garfield Farmers Market

The Emerson-Garfield Farmers Market operates seasonally at Emerson Park, 1116 W Alice Avenue. The 2026 season ran June through September on Friday afternoons, offering produce, baked goods and crafts alongside community activities.

The posted 2026 season has ended. Use the organizer's site for the next timetable before arranging a visit. Shopping for produce is different from joining a class or attending a stage show: decide what interests you and keep purchases separate from the question of whether an event requires admission.

Spokane Public Library Events

Spokane Public Library hosts programs year-round, including writing workshops, book discussions, arts sessions and Tech Talk for free computer and phone help. Events are scheduled across library branches for different age groups and skill levels.

The online calendar includes audience labels and registration requirements for each program. Some sessions welcome drop-ins, while others ask for advance sign-up. Check individual event listings for location, time and whether a library card is needed.

Friends of Manito Gardening Classes

The Friends of Manito offers free summer gardening classes for children and adults at Manito Park. Topics vary by session, and registration is required through the organizer's calendar.

A gardening class gives your visit a particular subject to explore, rather than simply walking through the park. Choose the published session for its topic and audience, then register as instructed. The free class program is seasonal; do not assume a lesson is available on every park visit.

Ice Age Floods Playground

The Ice Age Floods Playground on Riverfront Park's North Bank offers a slide tower, climber, fossil dig and seasonal splash pad inspired by the region's glacial history. The playground is an outdoor destination rather than a scheduled event, so visits depend on weather and your child's interests.

This is a place for outdoor play rather than a dated festival booking. The splash pad is seasonal, and published access information belongs with the City of Spokane. You can keep the outing focused on one area of the park or leave time for a river view afterward, according to your group's interests.

Participant Registration vs. Spectator Tickets

Bloomsday and Hoopfest require participant registration through the respective organizers, not through entertainment ticketing sites. You sign up to run, walk or play, rather than purchasing a spectator ticket.

Other community programs, such as library workshops and garden classes, may ask for advance registration to manage space and materials. Understanding the format helps you prepare correctly, whether you're joining an activity or watching from the sidelines.

Choose a gathering you want to join

Think about how involved you want to be. A race or basketball tournament asks for preparation and participant registration. A library discussion gives you a shared subject. A garden class lets you concentrate on a skill or question, while a market provides a different way to spend time in a neighborhood.

If you are going with someone, agree on the activity before the logistics. A person who wants to watch a sporting event may not be looking to enter it; someone interested in a quiet workshop may prefer that to an open-ended market visit. Making the format clear keeps the invitation easy to understand.

Planning Your Community Event Visit

Match the plan to the type of activity. A market can be a flexible browse, while a class or race has a defined participation process. Read the organizer's current information before inviting a group so you can explain whether you are shopping, watching or taking part.

The address matters as much as the event name. Library programs may meet at different locations, and a neighborhood market is a separate destination from a downtown gathering. If using transit, check the return journey as well as the arrival with Spokane Transit's trip planner.

For a performance after your community outing, explore the Spokane event calendar. Those ticketed concerts, shows and games are a separate choice. Open the event that interests you and review its ticket options rather than treating community participation as an affiliate purchase.

Keep a simple alternative in mind

A seasonal gathering might not fit your dates. You can still plan a public-park visit or look for a different current library program, without pretending that a missed market is happening on another day. For a no-admission option, the free Spokane guide separates public exploration and free classes from paid extras.

If you want a larger choice of outing, the things-to-do guide adds parks, cultural stops and live-event ideas. Choose what suits your day, then use the relevant organizer to complete the plan.
