About First Interstate Center for the Arts

First Interstate Center for the Arts is a downtown Spokane theater for touring Broadway productions, concerts, comedy, dance and community performances. It began as the Washington State Pavilion Opera House for Expo ’74, and a major 2018 renovation updated its seating, finishes and guest areas. Today it forms part of the convention-center campus on West Spokane Falls Boulevard. The theater has its own auditorium and entry arrangements, even when other events are taking place next door.

Plan Your Visit to First Interstate Center for the Arts

How is the auditorium arranged?

The auditorium has orchestra, terrace and balcony sections. Choose from the chart for your performance because a production’s stage or orchestra-pit use can affect the seats offered. The name of a section does not by itself establish a step-free route to the seat.

Wheelchair and companion positions are on the orchestra level. Terrace and balcony seating involves stairs and does not include designated wheelchair seating. Tell the ticket representative about mobility equipment and companion needs before selecting seats.

Where is the theater entrance?

The physical address is 334 W. Spokane Falls Boulevard, Spokane, WA 99201. The venue’s driving directions use Division Street and Spokane Falls Boulevard to reach the theater from I-90 or points north.

For Broadway performances, the box office is across the breezeway from the main theater entrance. Bring photo ID for ticket pickup. Check whether your confirmation sends you to the theater itself or to a different space within the Convention Center.

Where can I park or drop off passengers?

Covered options include the Convention Center garage on West Spokane Falls Boulevard and The Davenport Grand garage off North Washington Street. The theater also identifies surface lots on West Riverside and West Main. Read the rate and exit conditions at your chosen facility.

A turnout directly in front of the theater provides a drop-off option before parking. Permit holders can use accessible spaces in the Convention Center garage on a first-come basis; admission does not reserve a parking space.

What accessibility services are available?

The main entrance is wheelchair accessible. Lobby ramps and elevators serve the building, and accessible restrooms are on the orchestra and main-lobby levels. Ask Guest Services about the route to your particular seating position.

Assistive listening devices are available in limited numbers from the main-lobby Guest Service Office, with photo ID held during use. Request sign-language interpretation as early as possible so staff can arrange service and appropriate sightlines.

When should I arrive for a Broadway performance?

Broadway in Spokane normally opens the lobby one hour before curtain and the auditorium about 30 minutes before. It recommends arriving at least 25 minutes before curtain for shorter entry lines. The show’s own instructions take precedence.

For STCU Best of Broadway, children normally must be at least three, and every guest needs a ticket. Some productions have additional content advisories. Dress is flexible, so choose clothing appropriate for sitting comfortably through the performance.

What should I prepare for entry?

Guests pass through weapon screening, and re-entry is prohibited. The venue permits a clear bag up to 14 by 14 by 6 inches, a small bag up to 12 by 10 by 4 inches that need not be clear, or a clear one-gallon storage bag. Medical items and qualifying diaper bags have stated exceptions.

Concessions and merchandise are cashless, accepting major cards and mobile payment. Have the downloaded admission ticket ready to scan rather than relying on the purchase receipt. Smoking and vaping are prohibited. Check the event’s camera rules before bringing equipment.
