Things to Do in Spokane This Weekend: Your Local Guide

For Spokane events this weekend, begin with the Friday-Sunday listings below and choose one outing you want to make time for. You can build the rest of the weekend around a show, game, museum visit or outdoor stop. Riverfront Park, Manito Park and a short Centennial Trail segment give you different ways to spend flexible time without turning the weekend into a race between attractions.

The short answer

Use the current weekend cards for scheduled performances and games, then add one activity that fits your group: the riverfront, Manito's gardens, a trail segment or the MAC. Everyday attractions have their own opening information. Library and community activities use separate organizer calendars, so they may not appear among the ticketed-event cards.

How to Use the Weekend Event Calendar

The Friday-Sunday cards show events in the local catalog for the current weekend. Open the specific event for its booking details, local start information and ticket options. An unresolved start stays unverified, and the cards do not claim to represent every neighborhood activity or live seat inventory.

Choose one performance or game that interests you, then make the invitation specific. If the same show appears more than once, compare the date and start information carefully. A single main booking can give the rest of the weekend a useful shape without filling every hour.

For a broader view, open the Spokane calendar. For organizer-led classes, markets and festivals, use the community guide. Keep those sources alongside the weekend cards rather than expecting one list to cover every activity.

Start Downtown: Riverfront Park and Spokane Falls

Riverfront Park places the Spokane River at the center of a downtown outing. The visitor address is 507 N. Howard Street. You can start with a falls viewpoint, then decide whether another park activity fits your plans. A short visit focused on the river can be enough before a later booking.

Look toward the Post Street and Monroe Street bridges or Huntington Park by City Hall for different perspectives on Spokane Falls. Flow varies seasonally, with stronger runoff typically in spring and early summer. Viewpoints do not all have identical access routes; choose your walk for the people coming with you.

The Looff Carrousel, Numerica SkyRide and Numerica Skate Ribbon offer additional activities with their own schedules and admission arrangements. Playground features provide another choice. Check the particular attraction you want rather than assuming that every park activity is operating during your visit.

South Hill Option: Manito Park Gardens

If you prefer a quieter green space away from downtown, head to Manito Park on Spokane's South Hill. The park includes five major garden areas: Duncan Garden, Rose Hill, Lilac Garden, Ferris Perennial Garden and Nishinomiya Tsutakawa Japanese Garden. Admission to the park and gardens is free, making this a budget-friendly weekend choice.

Garden gates and certain drives have seasonal schedules, so some areas may be closed or have limited winter access. Duncan Garden's annual displays are a summer highlight, and you won't see the same flowering show in every season. Check the current official access information before driving across town, especially if you're planning to visit a specific garden on a cold-weather weekend.

Choose a garden or part of the park to focus on, rather than trying to see every display. A visit with someone who enjoys plants can become a chance to compare what catches your attention. Plan Manito as a separate South Hill stop, allowing for the journey from your other activities.

Active Option: Spokane River Centennial Trail

The Spokane River Centennial State Park Trail extends roughly 40 miles from the Nine Mile area to the Idaho border, supporting walking, rolling, running and cycling. You don't need to tackle the entire distance; choose a shorter segment near downtown or another trailhead that fits your group's pace and schedule.

Use the official trail information to choose a starting point and check current alerts. Parking and access rules depend on the trailhead. An out-and-back route makes the return part of the plan; a point-to-point route requires you to arrange how you will get back.

Pair a trail outing with a coffee stop or lunch in a nearby neighborhood. The trail crosses different parts of the city, so you can plan a point-to-point walk if you're comfortable arranging a pickup, or do an out-and-back from a single trailhead. Check the current trail alerts before heading out, especially after storms or during maintenance periods.

Rainy-Day Backup: Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture

The Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture, or MAC, offers art, regional history and cultural exhibitions at 2316 W. First Avenue in Browne's Addition. Choose a current exhibition that interests you, then check the museum's opening information for your visit. An indoor cultural stop can give your weekend a focus of its own.

Your regular museum admission includes access to the Campbell House, a separate historic building on the grounds that explores Spokane household and community life around 1910. Campbell House has its own touring window, so confirm visit times with museum services when you arrive. The main galleries are wheelchair accessible, but Campbell House is not ADA accessible due to its historic structure.

Leave enough room to enjoy the part of the museum you came to see. Campbell House is a separate building, so moving between the two is different from staying in the galleries. If you have an evening event planned, decide which part of the museum visit matters most rather than setting yourself a hurried tour of everything.

Family-Friendly Weekend Plan

For outdoor play, consider the Ice Age Floods Playground on Riverfront Park's North Bank. Its slide tower, climber and fossil dig connect play with the region's glacial story. The splash pad is a summer feature. Choose activities that suit the children you bring, and keep supervision and rest breaks part of your own plan.

A family outing can be one playground stop and a river view, with another activity left optional. If you prefer a scheduled show, the family guide selects appropriate starting points from the event catalog. A category label alone does not establish a performance's audience.

The library calendar provides a separate place to look for age-designated programs. Read the particular activity for location, audience, any cost and registration requirements. Avoid treating adult-oriented workshops or discussions as children's activities simply because they take place at a library.

Live Performances and Sports

A concert, theatre performance, comedy show or sports event can become the main plan for a weekend outing. Use the current cards to choose the particular booking, then explore its event page before discussing tickets with your group.

First Interstate Center for the Arts presents touring Broadway productions, concerts, dance and comedy in a renovated theater that began as the Expo '74 Opera House. Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox is home to the Spokane Symphony and other performances in a 1931 Art Deco auditorium. Knitting Factory Spokane books touring musicians in a club-style room where general-admission standing is common. Numerica Veterans Arena hosts arena concerts, family shows and hockey games, while Avista Stadium in Spokane Valley is home to the Spokane Indians during baseball season.

Once you have chosen a performance, note the address and local start information. If using transit, plan the return as well as the outward journey with Spokane Transit's official schedules. Explore ticket options for the booking you have selected, without assuming that a calendar entry guarantees available seats.

Community Programs and Seasonal Events

For a community-focused weekend, start with the relevant organizer calendar. Spokane Public Library programs have their own locations and audience labels. Friends of Manito offers free summer gardening classes with registration. These are different formats from a drop-in garden visit or a listed theatre booking.

Emerson-Garfield Farmers Market is a seasonal neighborhood option. The posted June-September 2026 season has ended, so use its official site for the next timetable. A familiar weekly market name is not proof that it is running this Friday.

Keep activities outside the current weekend separate from the immediate plan. The community guide includes major future dates and explains registration, while this page's current cards focus on the nearest Friday-Sunday window.

Practical Tips for Your Weekend

Start by picking one anchor activity, a museum visit, a trail walk, a garden stroll or a ticketed performance, then leave the rest of your weekend flexible. That way you have something definite to look forward to, but you're not locked into a rigid schedule if energy levels, weather or interests shift.

Check operating hours and access rules for your chosen destinations. Park gates, museum hours, trail parking and venue showtimes all vary, and a quick confirmation before you leave home prevents wasted trips. Don't assume that free admission means every gate is open every day, or that winter hours match summer schedules.

  1. Review the current weekend event calendar for confirmed showtimes and ticket links

  2. Confirm garden gates, museum hours and trail access before driving across town

  3. Plan transit or parking for evening performances; return schedules matter as much as arrival

  4. Pack layers and water for outdoor exploring; Spokane weather can shift quickly

  5. Leave room in your schedule for spontaneous stops, coffee, lunch or a neighborhood browse
