Spokane Symphony & Chorale: James Lowe - Handel's Messiah

Spokane Symphony & Chorale: James Lowe - Handel's Messiah at The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist

Handel's Messiah sounds different in person. The voices of the Spokane Symphony Chorale rise together, filling the cathedral with a layered richness no recording can deliver. The soaring space of St. John's Cathedral amplifies every aria and chorus, letting you hear the composition the way it was meant to be experienced: as a live, communal event. If you've only heard Messiah on a playlist, Friday, November 20, 2026, at 7:30 PM gives you a reason to discover it differently.

This is Spokane's cherished November tradition. Conductor James Lowe leads the orchestra and chorale through Handel's expressive writing, inside a venue whose architecture and acoustics were designed for exactly this kind of performance. The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist offers more than a backdrop; its proportions and materials shape the sound itself.

Bring the person who waits all year for this performance, or introduce someone who's curious about live choral music but hasn't found the right occasion. A November evening inside the cathedral, surrounded by hundreds of other listeners, turns Handel's familiar music into a shared milestone. The event is recommended for children five and up, making it accessible to families who want to begin a new tradition together.
