Spokane Symphony: Sameer Patel - The Pastoral

Spokane Symphony: Sameer Patel - The Pastoral at Martin Woldson Theatre At The Fox

Classical music can take you outdoors without leaving your seat. Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony sketches birdsong, summer storms and countryside dances in sound. Sibelius gives you icy brilliance and soaring lines in his Violin Concerto. On Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 7:30 PM, the Spokane Symphony performs both works at Martin Woldson Theatre At The Fox, with guest conductor Sameer Patel leading the program. If you want music that lets your imagination roam open landscapes, this is a night to consider.

Local favorite Yvette Kraft plays the Sibelius Violin Concerto in D minor, a piece built around contrast: chilly beauty alongside warmth, technical demand paired with lyrical passages. Hearing a familiar performer tackle that balance live gives you a reason to pay closer attention than you might at home. The program opens with Tchaikovsky's Polonaise from Eugene Onegin, then moves through the Sibelius concerto before finishing with Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony.

Bring someone who finds restoration in nature, or who simply enjoys letting music carry them somewhere else for a while. A Saturday symphony performance gives you both a shared experience to talk about afterward, with no elaborate occasion required.
