Spokane Symphony: James Lowe - Beethoven's Ninth

Spokane Symphony: James Lowe - Beethoven's Ninth at Martin Woldson Theatre At The Fox

How do you want to finish 2026? Beethoven's Ninth has become one of Spokane's most uplifting New Year's Eve traditions because it offers something more meaningful than confetti and noise. The Spokane Symphony, joined by the Spokane Symphony Chorale, performs this powerful work at Martin Woldson Theatre At The Fox on Thursday, December 31, 2026, at 7:30 PM. From the opening movement to the triumphant final "Ode to Joy," this music celebrates hope, humanity and what becomes possible when voices come together.

The finale is the reason this symphony holds New Year's Eve. When the full orchestra and chorale unite for "Ode to Joy," the sound fills the Fox in a way no recording can recreate. You hear the collective effort, the precision and the intention behind every phrase. It reminds you that renewal isn't something you find alone; it's built through shared purpose.

Bring someone who wants to start the new year with intention instead of distraction. This evening gives you a chance to reflect together on what matters, with music designed to inspire rather than entertain passively. James Lowe conducts, and the Spokane Symphony Chorale, directed by Dr. Meg Stohlmann, joins the orchestra for the iconic final movement.
