Spokane Symphony: James Lowe - Operatic Passions

Spokane Symphony: James Lowe - Operatic Passions at Martin Woldson Theatre At The Fox

Passion. Heartbreak. Triumph. Opera distills human emotion into melody, and on Sunday, April 25, 2027, at 3:00 PM, the Spokane Symphony performs some of the art form's most beloved moments at Martin Woldson Theatre At The Fox. Conductor James Lowe leads the orchestra, the Spokane Symphony Chorale, soprano Madison Leonard and tenor Alex Richardson through an afternoon of Verdi, Puccini, Wagner, Gounod and Strauss. If you respond to dramatic music that takes emotion seriously, this program brings together some of opera's finest writing.

The program includes Verdi's "Va, pensiero" and the Anvil Chorus, Puccini's "Nessun dorma" and "O mio babbino caro," Wagner's "Siegfried's Rhine Journey," and the sparkling Overture to Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss II. You'll hear soaring arias, stirring choruses and orchestral interludes that reveal the theatrical power behind the stories. Each piece offers a different emotional shade, from longing to exuberance.

Invite someone who finds beauty in a well-sung phrase or the sweep of a full chorus. A Sunday matinee gives you time to talk over the music afterward, maybe over dinner, without the pressure of a late night. The combination of symphony, chorale and two soloists means you'll experience the full range of operatic color in a single afternoon.
