Mystic Pizza

Mystic Pizza at First Interstate Center for the Arts

A small-town pizza joint. Three young women figuring out life, love and family. A soundtrack filled with 80s and 90s anthems you probably sang into a hairbrush at some point. Mystic Pizza, the new musical based on the 1988 rom-com, comes to First Interstate Center for the Arts in Spokane on Sunday, March 7, 2027, at 1:00 PM. If you grew up on Cyndi Lauper, Wilson Phillips and Belinda Carlisle, this Sunday afternoon gives you a reason to hear those songs in a live theater setting.

The score features the megahits: "Girls Just Want To Have Fun," "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now," plus tracks originally recorded by Melissa Etheridge, The Bangles, Rick Astley, Bryan Adams and more. Each song carries its own nostalgia. Hearing them woven into a working-class story about navigating complicated relationships adds emotional weight to melodies you've been humming for decades.

Sandy Rustin adapted the screenplay by Amy Holden Jones, with choreography by Connor Gallagher and direction by Casey Hushion. The creative team behind this production brings the original film's heart to the stage with arrangements and orchestrations by Carmel Dean. For fans of the movie or musical theater itself, that collaborative energy shapes the two-hour-and-fifteen-minute experience.

Choose someone who gets excited about a Sunday matinee. A friend who quotes rom-coms, a partner who still has those 80s compilations, or the sibling who dragged you to every singalong. A Sunday afternoon show gives you time to make a day of it without sacrificing your evening. Explore ticket options for Mystic Pizza and plan a nostalgic Sunday in Spokane.
