Spokane Symphony: The Nutcracker With The State Street Ballet

Spokane Symphony: The Nutcracker With The State Street Ballet at Martin Woldson Theatre At The Fox

Tchaikovsky's music gains dimension when a live orchestra plays it. The Spokane Symphony performs The Nutcracker score on Thursday, December 3, 2026, at 7:30 PM at Martin Woldson Theatre At The Fox, with State Street Ballet bringing the choreography to the stage. Hearing those familiar melodies unfold in real time, with conductor James Lowe leading the musicians, offers something recorded versions cannot duplicate. The sound fills the room, and you're present for it.

This production brings together State Street Ballet with over 90 local dancers. That collaboration means professional artistry paired with community participation, creating a production rooted in Spokane. For families, this becomes a chance to see neighbors and young dancers perform alongside trained professionals, adding a layer of personal investment to the evening.

The Nutcracker works as a multigenerational outing. Younger children encounter the story's fantasy and spectacle. Adults who grew up with the ballet reconnect with a childhood memory. Grandparents share something they know with the people they love. A Thursday evening performance makes it possible to plan around school schedules and work, turning the middle of the week into a special occasion.
