Spokane Symphony: The Nutcracker With The State Street Ballet

Spokane Symphony: The Nutcracker With The State Street Ballet at Martin Woldson Theatre At The Fox

The Nutcracker has staying power because the story gives children something magical to believe in and adults something beautiful to remember. When you watch Clara's journey unfold with a live orchestra beneath it, the familiar becomes something worth experiencing again. State Street Ballet brings the production to Martin Woldson Theatre At The Fox on Friday, December 4, 2026, at 7:30 PM, with Tchaikovsky's score played live by the Spokane Symphony under conductor James Lowe.

A recording cannot replace what happens when an orchestra plays in the same room. The music fills the space around you, and the dancers respond to it in real time. Over ninety local dancers join the professional company, turning this into a performance rooted in Spokane rather than imported wholesale. That combination of professional ballet and hometown participation makes the production feel like it belongs to the audience watching it.

Bring someone who loves the ritual as much as the performance. A parent who took you years ago, a partner willing to dress up for the occasion, or a child experiencing their first ballet: each will find something different in the evening. The pleasure comes from sharing the moment, not just witnessing it alone.

December asks a lot of your calendar. This is one tradition that rewards the effort of leaving the house. Check ticket options for The Nutcracker with State Street Ballet and the Spokane Symphony, and put a Friday evening aside for Spokane's favorite holiday show.
