The Sound of Music

The Sound of Music at First Interstate Center for the Arts

Some musicals cross age lines without explaining themselves. The Sound of Music has done that for decades, telling a story through songs most people already know. On Thursday, May 27, 2027, at 7:00 PM, this critically acclaimed North American tour arrives at First Interstate Center for the Arts in Spokane. If you want an evening that gives the room something to hum together, this is the kind of production that invites it.

Three-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien directs this production, bringing the story of Maria and the von Trapp family back to the stage with vibrant clarity. The appeal is simple: a novice who chooses not to live behind closed doors, a family learning to sing together, and a romantic tale rooted in resilience. The score includes "Do-Re-Mi," "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" and "Edelweiss." Those titles carry weight because audiences have been singing them for decades.

Bring someone who remembers the 1965 Oscar-winning film, or someone young enough to discover the story for the first time. Either way, you'll share two hours and forty-five minutes of music and narrative that feel designed to be experienced together. A touring production of this scale gives you live performance polish without requiring a trip beyond Spokane.

Make this the occasion that fills a Thursday evening with something worth planning around. Check ticket options for The Sound of Music and give yourself a reason to leave the house for a musical that continues to teach new audiences to sing.
