The Sound of Music

The Sound of Music at First Interstate Center for the Arts

Some stories ask to be shared out loud. The Sound of Music has endured for decades because people who love it want the next generation to discover why. On Sunday, May 30, 2027, at 6:30 PM, a touring production directed by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien brings the Rodgers & Hammerstein classic to First Interstate Center for the Arts. If you've been looking for a reason to take someone to the theater, this is it.

Maria and the von Trapp family anchor a tale about resilience, choice and the courage to follow your heart instead of someone else's plan. That emotional core gives the musical its pull, supported by songs you already know: "Do-Re-Mi," "Sixteen Going on Seventeen," "Edelweiss." Hearing those melodies performed live offers a different experience than remembering the film.

This is a production built for sharing. Bring your mom, your daughter, the friend who quotes the movie every holiday. Or take someone who's never seen it and watch them discover what made this musical endure. A live show gives you a reason to dress up, leave the house and spend an evening focused on something worth your attention.

Sunday evening theater makes a civilized weekend plan, with time to enjoy dinner beforehand and talk about the show afterward. Check ticket options for The Sound of Music in Spokane and build an evening around a story that's been worth retelling for six decades.
