The Who's Tommy

The Who's Tommy at First Interstate Center for the Arts

What happens when a young boy witnesses violence and retreats into silence, only to find fame through pinball? The Who's Tommy explores that question through rock anthems that became part of music history. Saturday, December 5, 2026, at 7:00 PM, First Interstate Center for the Arts presents a reimagined production of the 1969 rock opera, with songs that include "Pinball Wizard," "I'm Free," "See Me, Feel Me" and "Sensation." If you've heard those titles before, this is your chance to experience them as part of the larger story they were written to tell.

Tony Award-winning composer Pete Townshend and director Des McAnuff return to the work with a production designed to feel fresh and relevant. Myth meets spectacle in a show that balances visual invention with the music that made the original groundbreaking. For fans of the album, the stage version offers a fuller sense of how the songs connect. For newcomers, it's an entry point into a piece of rock history that still holds attention.

Bring the person who introduced you to classic rock, or the friend who loves theater that takes risks. A Saturday evening gives you time to make plans around the performance—dinner beforehand, a post-show conversation that unpacks what you just saw. This is the kind of night that gives you something to talk about beyond the usual weekend routine.
