The Wiz

The Wiz at First Interstate Center for the Arts

The Wizard of Oz becomes something entirely different when you filter it through soul, gospel, rock and 70s funk. The Wiz takes Dorothy's journey and reimagines it with a groove that changed Broadway when it first arrived. On Saturday, December 19, 2026, at 7:00 PM, that energy lands at First Interstate Center for the Arts in Spokane. If you want a musical that moves, this Tony Award-winning production delivers.

Director Schele Williams and choreographer JaQuel Knight bring ballet, jazz and modern pop together into choreography that refuses to sit still. The Baltimore Sun called out powerhouse performances and stunning choreography. The Chicago Sun-Times described it as eye-popping and high-intensity. Those aren't quiet compliments. They point to a show built for audiences who want spectacle and emotion in equal measure.

Take someone who loves musicals but craves something beyond the familiar catalogue. The Wiz offers a twist they won't see coming, anchored in a story they already know. Or bring a young theatergoer ready for their first big Broadway tour. The production recommends ages eight and up, making it accessible without losing its edge.

A Saturday night musical gives you a reason to dress up, head downtown and remember why live theater beats your couch. Check ticket options for The Wiz in Spokane and ease on down the road to a show worth leaving the house for.
