The Wiz

The Wiz at First Interstate Center for the Arts

Dorothy's journey gets a new groove in The Wiz, the Tony Award-winning musical that reimagined The Wizard of Oz with soul, gospel, rock and 70s funk. This all-new touring production arrives at First Interstate Center for the Arts on Saturday, December 19, 2026, at 1:00 PM. If you want theater that moves, rather than simply unfolds, this is the kind of musical that gives you rhythm alongside story.

Schele Williams directs, with choreography by JaQuel Knight, whose work extends from Beyoncé's "Single Ladies" to Black Is King. Expect ballet, jazz and modern pop woven through the familiar tale of finding home. The show runs approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes, including intermission, giving you a complete afternoon experience without keeping young audience members seated past their patience.

A Saturday matinee fits the family schedule without cutting into evening plans. Recommended for ages 8 and up, The Wiz gives parents, grandparents and kids a shared outing built around music that still sounds fresh decades after the original Broadway run. Bring the young theater fan in your life, or make it a multi-generational afternoon.

Ease on down to Spokane this December. Check ticket options for The Wiz and turn a winter Saturday into an afternoon of music, movement and a story worth revisiting together.
